DRIVE ME CRAZY REVIEW

‘You can’t yell YOLO every time you do something stupid,’ I tell him. ‘The clue is in the fucking acronym: you only live once.  Meaning life is delicate. Meaning don’t do stuff that is going to fucking kill you.’

Synopsis

It was supposed to be the trip of a lifetime…

In reality it was a business trip, prettied up as a romantic mini break, but the man behind the wheel was meant to be Candice Hart’s boss and (married but separated, I swear!) lover. Not Danny the new guy!

Not only is Candice faced with a new driver, but the office’s far too handsome hipster expects her to share the cramped space inside his “fully” restored VW Beetle, aka The Love Bug, and put up with his constant opinions about her life…
Before long she is tired of playing the ‘good girl’ and, with Danny’s help, is determined to finally show the world the real Candice Hart!

My thoughts
A laugh outloud rom-com!

Having never read anything by this author, I didn’t know what to expect but I wasn’t disappointed! This fun filled rom-com is very much in line with the likes of Sophie Kinsella, Lindsey Kelk and the like.

Candice was a very funny character, one I’m sure all women could relate to! Not only is she sleeping with her boss (I’m not sure how many of you can relate to that....) she has changed herself to please him.  Seriously? Hello?? He’s married, a cheater and a liar aren’t worth the effort darlin’! Despite this, Candice loves to please ‘her lover’ by doing everything he wants, eating healthy, strictly no swearing, dressing like a middle aged librarian, yet her friends are just so likeable, so down to earth in how they speak with her.  Blunt comes to mind!

‘Bitch, are you weighing yourself?’ my friend yells through the closed door. ‘Seriously, you gotta stop with this shit. You are a perfectly normal and healthy weight.  Stop trying to be a stick for a man and come and get some chips into you.’

Perfect way of keeping it real! And it is so true!

Things are going a little too smoothly for the happy couple and when an emergency rears its ugly head, plans change.  Enter Danny, who throws a spanner in the works.  I love Danny.  He’s fun, spontaneous and full of YOLO ideas! I think he is perfect match for Candice.  She doesn’t however! The things he makes her do is so funny, and the situations they find themselves in is just so funny!  The banter between the two of them becomes more hilarious as the book progresses.

My arse is killing me – what the fuck did we do last night?’
‘Well we didn’t do that,’ he says with a cheeky laugh. ‘I’d remember that.’

I think Danny really brings something out in Candice but even whilst she feels herself letting her hair down around him, her feelings for her boss don’t want to go away.  Can she figure out who she wants to be, Candice or Candy? And which man is the man she wants to get to know that little bit better?
