“If you could tell the bride and groom something you’ve learned about love, what would it be?
My mum and dad always say they don’t go to bed on an argument. I would say, if he’s got nothing to hide, why won’t he let you use his phone to order pizza?” Maddie

My thoughts

Always the Bridesmaid is now what I consider to be classic Kelk, hilarious, sweet and so bloody true!  Kelk has a way of bringing in real life situations, real life meltdowns, you know the ones, where you yell at the book between fits of giggles, 'Oh my God, that's so me!' Yep, Kelk does this!

Maddie is an events planner with the world’s worse boss, world’s craziest family, a man who adds lots of entertainment in the bedroom and two best friends going through two very different life changes. Maddie is especially relatable as the novel is written in the style of diary. Each chapter/section has these at the top and they are so funny!

“Today I feel: Murderous.

I am thankful for: Waterproof mascara”

Weddings.  Fist fights.  Men.   Crazy mothers, and general chaos follows Maddie wherever she goes and it’s hilarious.  With Lauren’s wedding fast approaching and a controlling mother pecking away at Maddie’s plan and Sarah’s divorce ruining her life, Maddie must pull it all together whilst dealing with her own turmoil and a family who believes she's wasting her life. With all this happening, has she even got time for dating… ? Well... you have to make time for dating....I hear you say... yeah, probably...but even Maddie might be struggling with that! Has she even got the time to deal with the ‘wankery’(Amazing word!!) that disrupts her life? There's Will to think about at least. Swoon worthy Will.... But even that brings with it more headaches than it’s probably worth… Surely, Maddie has to have a happy ending?

Always the Bridesmaid is a fantastic summer read! A MUST read! A word of warning:  Do not read this book in public if you don’t like laughing out loud near strangers, on buses, sitting on a bench in a park, laying on a beach…. you get the picture… because I can guarantee that you will laugh, and loudly!
